Why Plant-Based + EASY GROCERY LIST
For the animals, the environment, and my health! The animals will thank you, the planet will thank you, and your body will thank you for not eating animal products.
A plant-based diet decreases your risk of getting cancer!!!
The reasons to go plant-based are endless! Eating a plant-based diet is mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually healing. It opens up dormant regions of human potential and consciousness. You will see life differently. Your skin clears up, your mind is more clear, and from personal experience, it truly does make you happier. It is the first step in changing your life for the better. Plus, your risk of cancer, heart disease, obesity, arthritis, diabetes significantly decreases. When animals are killed, they are scared and extremely stressed from living conditions. That energy is then transferred from the dead animal to you. By the way, do you even know how long that flesh has been dead for? Ew! If that animal was in pain at the time of death (which it probably was) then stress hormones released then stored in the animal are now being absorbed into your DNA.
Cancer thrives in acidic environments. Meat and dairy cause your blood to be very acidic. Cancer cannot live in an alkaline bloodstream, therefore, when you eat alkaline foods such as fruits and vegetables, your risk of cancer dramatically decreases. The World Health Organization classifies processed meat as a group 1 carcinogen, which falls under the same category as cigarettes. One serving of meat a day increases your risk of diabetes by 51%. Research backed by "What the Health" on Netflix shows that eating just one egg per day can be just as bad for your arteries as smoking 5 cigarettes. There are many societies around the world that are living proof of the affect of eating meat and dairy. Disease and sickness has become almost normal. Heart attacks, strokes, cancer, diabetes, depression and obesity are becoming so common that every single one of us has been effected either directly or indirectly by at least one of these diseases.
It’s hard to accept that some of your favorite foods have become some of your worst addictions and the only way to becoming a more healthy, energetic, and youthful version of yourself is to give them up.
Why isn’t this more mainstream and talked about?
The matrix is a unfortunate place to be and sadly enough, our world revolves around money. Three of the most powerful industries in the world rely on us eating animals. When we go to the grocery store, you buy the meat which supports the murder of animals and it eventually can make you sick. Then you spend your hard earned money on doctors appointments and healthcare for surgeries. After you’ve gotten an illness, you’re prescribed medication from the pharmaceutical industry to mask the sickness. Then you go back to eating the same unhealthy food and the vicious cycle continues. It’s a big money makin’ business. How do we stop it? By not purchasing animal products!
My mom had a battle with breast cancer when I was 18. My intuition knew it wasn’t genetics because cancer doesn’t run in our family and I knew it wasn’t “bad luck.” I started doing research and connecting myself with people in the holistic health world and that’s when I came across DIET and how big of a role it plays in your health! My mom had been eating meat and dairy for 45 years of her life. As soon as she was diagnosed, we began our plant-based path. We slowly started taking out red meat and milk. We replaced milk with almond, soy, hemp, rice, flax, cashew, soy, or oat milk. We slowly stopped eating chicken and pork and replaced it with tempeh or tofu. After the meat and milk, cheese and seafood were left. Cheese was the hardest part for me personally. I recently learned that cheese has chemically addictive properties, how crazy and unfortunate! I still had seafood here and there and didn’t really think fish was that bad.
It wasn’t until I moved to California and watched “What the Health” that I learned more. Not only is eating fish destroying our oceans, but the fish contain mercury and microplastics. No thank you! It was in 2017 that I went fully plant-based. After going plant-based for my health, other doors in my consciousness opened up. I learned about the affect of eating meat and dairy and how much it is destroying the Earth. I made the connection that saying you love animals but eating them was a complete contradiction. And that We are all One. We have to be a team and save this planet while doing no harm, including to other species. It has become clear to me that no taste, no pleasure, no personal satisfaction would ever be worth the devastation and cruelty that comes attached to eating animal products. I made a realization that the choice to eat the food that caused the most destruction and suffering, was a choice of conditioning and pleasure rather than a choice of necessity. You have the power to CHOOSE! What a blessing that is :)
P.S. - My mom is cancer-free and happy and healthy. I do believe her diet and the love of God is what cured her. The doctors were so shocked to see her cancer shrink so quickly and easily. The link between diet and disease is something that most people don’t give enough thought and I decided I wasn’t going to be one of those people anymore. I decided to commit to learning more about plant based nutrition and i’ve never looked back.
As I align my actions with my beliefs, not only do I realize how much humans survive on a plant based diet, we THRIVE! And so do the animals and the environment!
If you wouldn't eat your dog or cat, why are you eating a pig or cow?
I get asked all the time, "So what do I buy from the store as a vegan?" Well, there are many options. I thought putting together my vegan grocery list would help out the non-vegans wanting to convert and make your life a little easier! My favorite place to shop is Sprouts Farmers Market or Trader Joe's if I need to pick up a few things.
