What I consume daily to live my highest self:

1. Probiotics

Let's talk probiotics and gut health. It's common to overlook the health of our gastrointestinal system, even though it contains over 100 trillion organisms, that make up 3/4 of our immune system. Probiotics play an important role in our health. Not only can they improve your digestive health and immunity, but they can help purify the blood and cleanse the skin, organs, and tissues.

You may be wondering, what is a probiotic? Probiotics are good helpful bacteria. When you lose "good" bacteria in your body (like after you take antibiotics, for example), probiotics help replace them. They keep your body functioning properly. Probiotics can reduce bloating, gas, constipation, depression, stress, skin breakouts, and leaky gut. 

Where can you find probiotics? You can take supplements or find them in fermented foods such as yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, tempeh, and kombucha. Since I don't consume dairy, I love eating kimchi, sauerkraut and drinking kombucha to get in my probiotic boost. There are also daily supplements you can take. I recently started taking a daily supplement, Ultimate Flora, which I already love. It is designed with a potent formula of 10 probiotic strains and 15 billion live cultures to support your digestive and immune health. I also LOVE getting local sauerkraut from the Farmer's Market. They have so many different flavors, my favorite being the "Harissa Kraut" which contains organic green cabbage, lemon, garlic, red pepper flakes, cumin, coriander, caraway, and sea salt. Absolutely delicious. 

When choosing a probiotic, look for one that provides a high bacteria count and a good ratio of lactobacillus and bifidobacterium bacteria. These 2 different strains of bacteria work on the small and large intestine! I also recommend choosing a probiotic with several different strains of bacteria. For every day use, 10-40 billion will get the job done but for any one who has been on antibiotics or needs it for therapeutic use, I recommend a supplement with 50+ billion.

2. Daily Vitamins

 Unless you're a superhuman that works and lives outside, breathes only fresh unpolluted air, drinks only pure, clean water, sleeps eight hours every night, moves your body every day, and are free from chronic stressors and exposures to environmental toxins, then you don't need vitamins. But, of course, that applies to no one on the planet. Therefore, in reality, we all need vitamins! It takes two seconds to pop them in your mouth every morning to keep you healthy. In today's world, everyone needs a basic multivitamin. I take Rainbow Light Women's One Multivitamin which supports heart, breast, bone, skin, and immune health. 



3. Superfood Powder

4. Flax Oil

I take a tablespoon of Flax Oil almost daily. If I'm not feeling the taste of it, I'll add it to a smoothie, salad, or something else along those lines. Flax Seeds are one of the richest sources of plant-based omega-3 fatty acids. It is also full of fiber, protein, vitamin B1, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, selenium, iron, and potassium. If you want healthy skin and hair, take one tablespoon daily. It can also be mixed with essential oils and used as a natural skin moisturizer. Amongst its other amazing nutrition facts, flax oil is also packed with antioxidants. Lignans are unique fiber-related polyphenols that provide us with antioxidant benefits for anti-aging, cellular health and hormone balance. 

Flaxseed oil also fight against breast, prostate, ovarian and colon cancer. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Cancer Research discovered that consuming flax seeds may decrease the risk of breast cancer. The three lignans found in flaxseeds can be converted by intestinal bacteria into enterodiol and enterolactone which naturally balance hormones which may be the reason flax seeds reduce the risk of breast cancer. Anything that naturally prevents cancer, I'll take it! Highly recommend adding flaxseed oil to your diet regimen.
